HSE carnival crowds

Fun activities helped to provide the focus for new health, safety and environment standards at the 2009 Health, Safety and Environment Carnival.

The Expansions Projects’ event attracted more than 420 employees and contractors to be challenged, quizzed and rewarded with a selection of prizes, from pedometers to defensive driving courses.

Display booths at the Supreme Court Gardens event in Perth represented every Rio Tinto health, safety and environment performance standard, together with interactive activities to provide an educational and memorable day with the aim of moving closer towards the target of ‘zero harm’.

Health and fitness entertainment was provided in the main ring by a group of talented Brazilian martial artists, followed by up close and personal experiences with Pilbara wildlife.
Monique Swanson manager Health and Safety Studies and Resources said: “Since the event we have received an overwhelming response. It was a magnificent success and our thanks go out to everyone who contributed in making this day triumphant.”

Thanks also go to Compass Health, 3M Australia, South West Occupational Health Services, Hostile Environment and PBS Solutions.
