Water wasted during cleaning

Water wasted during cleaning

When cleaning floors, do not use the hose as a broom. Sweep, mop or vacuum surfaces to remove debris before washing. Switch from ‘wet’ carpet cleaning methods, such as steam cleaning, to ‘dry’ cleaning, or powder methods. Ensure all washing equipment has aerated spray nozzles equipped with shutoff valves and that hoses are fitted with high pressure, low-volume nozzles and shutoff valves.

Outdoors, sweep parking areas unless washing is essential for health reasons. Sweep or use garden blowers on paved areas. Clean external equipment and floors less frequently and reconsider the need to wash building exteriors or other outside structures. Change window cleaning schedules from ‘regular’ to ‘as required’, and use squeegees rather than hosing. Wash vehicles only when necessary for operator safety and comfort. Limit the use of all high pressure sprayers.
