Ever tried shaking it off?It may sound silly but when you feel mental stress your body responds by tightening the shoulder muscles and clenching your fists or jaw. Next time you notice yourself feeling stressed, take a moment to think about how your body is reacting.
Start with your toes, give them a wriggle and work your way up through your body. If you find a sore muscle, tighten it and hold for a moment before releasing and ‘shaking it off’. While you are doing this, concentrate on regulating your breathing.
Simple muscle relaxation and breathing exercises can help contain feelings of stress before they become overwhelming.
