Slam dunk for Brockman!

A new era of fast and furious fitness has taken hold in Brockman, in the shape and form of basketball, writes onsite health solutions exercise physiologist Georgina Hammans.

Georgina teamed up with Indigenous liaison officer Derek Kickett to organise a team from Brockman for a round robin basketball tournament hosted by Tom Price, in celebration of NAIDOC week earlier this month.

The “Brockman 2 Win” players met the challenge with open arms, supported by the Brockman management team, who enabled time off for training and travel.

Georgina said, “They may not have won the tournament, they may not have won a single game, but Brockman 2 Win oozed team spirit, dedication and courage. Above all else, they triumphed for the simple reason that they are achieving health and wellbeing through physical activity.”

She praised the team for incorporating the three E’s of exercise - entertainment, energy and enthusiasm – and she urged other employees to take up regular exercise.

“There are 1,440 minutes in every day and you only need to exercise for 30 of them, so why not find a sport or exercise that interests you and kick start your healthy living lifestyle today?”
