Mighty motivation

The Men’s Health Magazine Challenge is an annual competition and Phil is the deserving winner in this year's Best Weight and Body Fat Reduction category.

Inspired by Frank Savage, also of Dampier, who succeeded in the challenge a couple of years ago, Phil has made a complete lifestyle change fueled by a diet of low carbohydrates, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, soup and lots of exercise. He starts his day with a one-hour bike ride, followed by a day on the run as Superintendent of Dampier’s Rail Operations, and an afternoon workout in the gym.

Phil felt the need for a dramatic change when his weight hit 142.5kg and his fortieth birthday was just around the corner. Bad eating habits picked up doing shiftwork,
a sedentary job and an inactive lifestyle were all contributors to his excess weight gain.

Phil took some convincing to allow us to include these photographs, however, he thought that if it would inspire others, it would be well worth the ribbing.
