His full-face welding helmet is one of the latest models designed to protect operators from the health hazards of welding and grinding, particularly exposure to harmful fumes.
The optrel welding helmets are used with an air belt to provide a cool and comfortable environment free of dust and fumes.
With a long career ahead of him, Justin recruited the support of Apprentice Training Supervisor Derek Hewitt and Cliff "Sooty" Wilson, and was successful in winning approval to introduce the helmets at work.
A safety representative for the first year group stationed at the HEWS in Tom Price, Justin is happy with the result saying: “The process didn’t take long and it does make the working environment a much safer place.”
