The quickest way to determine your hydration levels is to check the colour of your urine. As unpleasant as it sounds, your urine can tell you when you are dangerously short of fluids.
Dark yellow/pale brown coloured urine indicates severe dehydration. Drink water immediately and you may need medical attention at this stage.
Darker lemon/straw coloured urine indicates you have signs of dehydration and need to drink more water.
Pale lemon coloured urine indicates you are well hydrated but should continue drinking water regularly. You should consume a minimum of two litres a day and up to five litres on hot days or when undertaking strenuous activity.
