Maintaining balanced blood sugar levels is key in reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as well as helping you get through the day. When blood sugar levels (glucose) drop too low you could become Hypoglycaemic, experiencing weakness, hunger and dizziness and in extreme cases you might lose consciousness.
But before you reach for the candy bars, if we have too much glucose in our system, Hyperglycaemia may occur and over time our bodies become insulin resistant thus opening the doors for Type 2 Diabetes.
Managing our sugar levels means managing our carbohydrate intake in balance with all other essential food groups as part of our daily food intake. It does not mean restricting them.
So how do we prevent extreme spikes and lows in our blood sugar levels and avoid the risks of developing type 2 diabetes?
