Australia's BIG problem

At the start of a new year many may promise a healthier change as part of their new year resolution, but the statistics show that Australians are still loosing the battle of the bulge.

ApplesAn astounding 53 per cent of women and 67 per cent of men are overweight or obese in Australia - a serious problem which some are calling an epidemic. Not surprising, considering we have become as food obsessed as the United States, with ever increasing numbers of fast food outlets enticing us with drive through convenience and neon lights.

The facts are that obesity leads to a number of serious health issues including cancer, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

In recent programs run by Pilbara Health and Wellness teams across WA, participants expressed how changing their lifestyle has helped them gain so much more to look forward to, including a longer, healthier life.

So if you are concerned about your weight, don't think about what you will loose, focus on the gain and make 'health, happiness and wellbeing' part of your year long resolution.
